Brodie Kostecki is making waves in the Supercars world, cutting his first laps in a previously unraced ex-BRT chassis. The Shell V-Power squad is gearing up for the Supercars pre-season test and championship opener in Sydney, and their new machine is turning heads. Dubbed DJRS-09-MR, this chassis was originally crafted by Erebus Motorsport fabricator Jimmy White for the Blanchard Racing Team. It sat idle at BRT, which has now formed an alliance with Triple Eight for 2026, before being acquired by DJR late last year. The BRT chassis was a strategic acquisition for DJR, especially since Erebus announced mid-season that they would no longer supply customer teams. Kostecki, who joined the Ford team from Erebus ahead of the 2025 season, requested a switch to White-built chassis. He raced DJR's first Erebus-built chassis, DJRS-07-MR, until a heavy crash on the Gold Coast ruled him out of championship contention. With the car sent for repairs, Kostecki finished the season in DJRS-08-MR, which had previously belonged to Will Davison. Kostecki's impressive performance last year, including race wins at Townsville, The Bend, and Adelaide, has earned him Johnson's famous #17 plate this season. His new teammate, Rylan Gray, will take over the #38 Kostecki ran last year and is set to undergo a rookie test day in the DJRS-08-MR at Queensland Raceway on February 9. Triple Eight, which has taken over Ford homologation team duties from DJR, will also be at the track, testing their three new Mustangs on February 9 and 10. Supercars will also have a Supra and a Camaro at the venue next week for parity evaluations, which will also take place at the Bathurst 12 Hour. Minor changes to the Mustang aero package for 2026 include a new leading edge side skirt packer, a lower decklid height, and an increased rear wing angle. But here's where it gets controversial... Will Kostecki's performance in the new chassis be enough to challenge for the championship, or will he struggle to match his previous success? And this is the part most people miss... The key to DJR's success may lie in the strategic acquisition of the BRT chassis and the switch to White-built cars, which could be a game-changer for the team.
